Conservation and Advocacy

The Audubon Society and its members have a long history of using advocacy and activism to bring about some of conservation's greatest victories. Audubon South Carolina and its members work to bring to light pressing environmental concerns and threats facing the birds and critical habitats of South Carolina.

2009 brings a multitude of challenges for South Carolina and the nation's environment. Take a moment to navigate the links at left to learn more about the challenges that we all face in preserving our state's natural heritage. Then learn about the ways that you can play a role in protecting wild South Carolina.

The Francis Beidler Forest within Four Holes Swamp is protected from development and other threats to the ecosystem. However, not all of Four Holes Swamp is protected…yet. Your support for Pennies for the Planet can help buy and sustain more of this critical habitat, preserving some of the oldest trees in the South—and a jaw-dropping diversity of other plants and animals. As a bonus, efforts are underway to ensure that every penny contributed will be matched with another penny from businesses, organizations, and caring individuals who support this work. Details can be found here.

Do you have mitigation requirements? Check out our brochure for the Francis Beidler Forest Mitigation Bank.
