Our standards-based curriculum focuses on two units, “Birds”
and “Wetland/watersheds.” The “Curriculum”
link in the menu at the right will direct you to our grade-specific
lessons and sample week-long units. Other links point to our
species lists, images and additional education resources.
Please visit our blog to see what other school groups have done and what they have
seen during their experience in the swamp. Our education department calendar will allow you to see what dates are currently available for
your visit. Ignore the colors and focus on the times when
checking the dates. We can comfortably accommodate 100 students
or 4 groups at any one time.
If you have any questions regarding the education program at the Francis Beidler Forest, please direct them to Mark Musselman at (843) 462-2150 or via email.
Even if you are unable to visit the old-growth forest, you
can help protect it by participating in Pennies for the
Planet and spreading the word! This is a perfect Earth
Day project, especially if students can visit the habitat
that they helped protect! Details can be found here. |
