What Bird Was That?
That is the question that most often draws the average person into the wonderful and slightly addictive world of bird watching. Birding is the second most popular outdoor activity in the country, with millions of people enjoying nature through their love of birds. Audubon South Carolina wants to make birds exciting, interesting and accessible so we offer what help we can.
Send an email to Ann Shahid or call (843) 462-2150 with a description of the bird. Be specific in your description: 1) relate size to a known bird, 2) note any field marks (i.e., eye ring, wing bar, bill color and shape, leg color), and 3) where spotted. You may also send in a photo (if emailed, please keep size of attached file to under 1 MB) and we'll do our best to help you identify your bird. Browse the internet for great bird sites. Take the first few steps in identifying that unknown bird and next thing you know you'll find yourself in some exotic port of call searching for that one bird that'll make it worthwhile.
